My mother made me well aware of how people sexualize black kids. Her main concern and reason for no sleepovers was not simply that something would happen, but that it would be framed like it was my idea in the first place.

I feel bad for the kids who were never allowed to do sleepovers. Those are some of my best childhood memories. What’s dangerous is sending you child without vetting the location and caregiver, not the sleepover itself.
Rule of thumb: Don’t let your kid sleep over at a billionaire adult’s home. Keep it to their classmates and parents you know.

Idk about this one. I’m black, grew up in a black neighborhood, and in a city that was +50% black all the way through to my highschool years. And I absolutely spent the night at some of my homeboys houses and they at mine. These weren’t randos of course, and my mom knew them and their parents situation.
But in the 90s/2000s black kids in elementary and middle school definitely had sleep overs lol
